1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using LectureNotes.io ("the Service"), including our website and browser extension, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

LectureNotes.io provides AI-powered lecture capture, transcription, and note-taking tools designed to help students study more effectively. The Service includes:

  • Browser extension for capturing lecture videos
  • Automatic transcription and note generation
  • AI-powered study tools (flashcards, quizzes, tutor)
  • Organization and review features

3. Account Registration

To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service to capture content you do not have permission to record
  • Share captured content in violation of copyright laws or academic policies
  • Use the Service for commercial purposes without authorization
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or compromise the Service
  • Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Create multiple accounts to abuse free credits or promotions

5. Content Ownership and Responsibility

5.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of any content you create using the Service (notes, flashcards, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display your content to provide the Service.

5.2 Captured Content

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to capture and store any lecture content. LectureNotes.io is not responsible for any copyright infringement or violation of academic policies resulting from your use of the Service.

5.3 AI-Generated Content

Notes, summaries, and study materials generated by our AI are provided as study aids. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors. You should verify important information from original sources.

6. Credits and Payments

6.1 Credit System

Certain features consume credits. Free accounts receive limited monthly credits. Paid subscriptions include additional credits as described in our pricing.

6.2 Subscriptions

  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
  • You may cancel at any time; access continues until the billing period ends
  • Refunds are provided in accordance with our refund policy
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice

6.3 Purchased Credits

  • One-time credit purchases expire 6 months from purchase date
  • Purchased credits are non-refundable
  • Subscription credits are used before purchased credits

7. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may:

  • Perform maintenance with or without notice
  • Modify or discontinue features
  • Suspend accounts that violate these terms

8. Intellectual Property

The LectureNotes.io name, logo, and Service design are our intellectual property. You may not use our branding without permission. The Service includes open-source components used under their respective licenses.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT:

  • The Service will meet your specific requirements
  • The Service will be error-free or uninterrupted
  • AI-generated content will be accurate or complete
  • Captured content will be suitable for academic submission

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LECTURENOTES.IO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data, profits, or academic outcomes
  • Damages exceeding the amount you paid us in the past 12 months

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold LectureNotes.io harmless from any claims arising from your use of the Service, violation of these terms, or infringement of any rights.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service ends immediately
  • We may delete your account data after 30 days
  • You may export your data before termination if possible

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the Service.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
